Our areas of expertise

Whether feathered or scaled,
our observations are spot on!

Avifauna

We carry out terrestrial and offshore assessments and monitoring:

  • breeders (using IPA, STOC EPS, transects, quadrats),
  • migrants (static counts),
  • winter visitors (transect counts).

We develop collision risk models for wind energy projects in cases where there are particular issues affecting one or more species.

Our detailed analyses enable us to quantify the impact of the barrier effect on avifauna or chiroptera, particularly in the context of wind energy projects.

Chiroptera

Our experts study the composition of chiroptera populations and how they occupy their territory throughout their ecological cycle. We deploy a large fleet of equipment for our projects, enabling us to exceed the usual standards in terms of sampling via active and passive recorders.

We implement activity study protocols based on distance from the edges or calculations of collision risk gains in the event of bridling. In the context of wind energy projects, authorised to work at height and GWO certified, we equip measurement masts and wind turbines with customised recorders so that they can operate autonomously for an entire season.

Mammals

These nocturnal species are usually discreet and therefore difficult to observe. Reading tracks, searching for hidden clues, setting camera traps... studying mammals requires patience, know-how and experience... and sometimes even a little lynx urine!

Reptiles

The study of reptiles requires the use of simple, non-invasive but specific inventory methodologies, such as the installation of artificial insolation plates.

Insects

Calidris carries out insect surveys on various taxonomic groups:

  • butterflies,
  • dragonflies,
  • orthoptera,
  • saproxylic beetles.

Standard methodologies and mapping enable these groups to be properly taken into account for the effective environmental integration of projects and optimised legal certainty.

Amphibians

Amphibians are mainly active in spring during their reproductive phase. We observe adults, egg-laying and then larvae. Outside favourable periods, animals in their terrestrial phase are more difficult to contact. Research then focuses on favourable breeding habitats and terrestrial shelters.

Flora & natural habitat

Based on a detailed study of the species present, we produce educational maps, locating species of conservation and/or regulatory interest and their associated habitats.

Wetlands

In addition to and in accordance with the decree of 24 June 2008, this work enables us to locate wetlands in accordance with nomenclature 3.3.1.0 of the Water Law and, where applicable, we analyse the functionalities of wetlands according to the national wetland method in force.

Hazardous environments

Our expertise covers all types of natural environments, including forests, deserts, savannahs and, in some cases, hazardous environments. Our experts work safely in all conditions. We are accustomed to working even when political conditions are hazardous, for example in Niger, Ukraine, etc.

Due diligence

We can assist you in analysing the quality of project studies that you are considering acquiring or financing. We can compare methodologies, data collected and analyses carried out with the study standards of international donors, as well as the bibliography and, more generally, the state of the art.
